Sorry for being so quiet as of late, I am actually in the US of A at the moment (hi American readers) where I spent a week in Los Angeles part holiday, part meetings and T caught up with lots of friends. To soften the jet lag and to explore we are now in Miami, where although it's gorgeous, I'm dreaming of some good old Mexican food, especially my favorite LA haunt
Pinches Tacos.
Pinches Tacos are a small family run 'chain,' of restaurants. I loathe to use the word chain because the Anaya family prides itself on making each location unique and tries to fit seamlessly with each community location.
We tend to visit the original
Pinches Tacos on Sunset Boulevard, (opposite Chateau Marmont if you fancy a good people watching spot). It's just on the roadside and was a ten minute walk from our hotel, fancy that?
T goes for fish and chicken every time and I switch it up. This time I went for pork and chili beef with a side of the cactus. Yup inspired by Jamie Oliver trying cactus is LA, I thought I'd give it a go... The closest thing I can describe it to is cold beans: I don't think it's for me but am glad I gave it a go.
I love how low key it is - even with a bunch of high profile fans, it still rocks those Gerbera plastic tablecloths and asks you to clear up after yourselves. Working out about £1.50 per taco everyone can come here and they do from builders to execs in Bentley's once you know about it you'll keep going back for more I promise you.
If you ever find yourself in Los Angeles and want a good meal
Pinches Tacos is the place, plus its BYOB and open to 3am what more could you want? This is my Los Angeles chippy lane (Welsh reference).
Hasta Pronto Pinches Tacos!
